Midi controlled channels too. Stick a G-Major in the FX loop (serial or parellel or both!), add a Behringer FCB1010...Oh, happy tone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

well done i would have to say i just creamed myself... never used rack stuff much u any experience... what are the pros/cons???

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Unfortunately I've no experience with rack equipment...yet. There's just something about being able to change your preamp, fx processor and power settings with one button that appeals greatly to me. A Triaxis, G-Major and a Stragegy 500 into a Mesa 2x12 with a FCB1010 or better controller is about the best rack rig I could want. Nice and simplistic but fairly versitile. Of course, I'd need a Roland JC120 too for my clean tones :D

Vox are bringing out a new AC30CC head with master volume, effects loop and reverb. Looks to be a cracker...

    http://www.voxamps.co.uk/products/ac30/ac_30cc.htm

    $849 on Musicians Friend:

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/fg=42/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/482622/

    But they don't ship internationally.
You could try and source it over here but I'm not sure they're available yet.
Worth waiting though, they look fairly sweet.

rocktron xpression for the multi effect i think i'd go for that

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, the Rocktron is supposed to be good but I've heard really good things about the G-Major. Could get the Boss GT Pro either. Only twice the price...

feck it get em both ..i'm seriously considerin gettin rid of the gt-6 and buyin a rocktron..but all that'll do is give me the taste of rack stuuf and before i know it i'll haave a tone of ****..i'd sellmy soul for a rack delay unit tho

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Hmm, flog the GT-6, get a G-Major (€400) and a FCB1010(€150), you've got yourself an almost rack. Use the amp channel switcher on the FCB, it could get interesting...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

ya neverknow could be worth a look does the g major have a pich shifter on it yeah.. can't do without my whammy effect

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

    Why yes, yes it does.

    http://www.netzmarkt.de/thomann/thoiw6_tc_electronic_gmajor_prodinfo.html

What about flogging the GT-6 and getting a preamp that'll do your distortion too? Flog your amp and head off to ebay to secure a nice poweramp and a 2x12 cab or get a cab from Avatar?

stop will ya i'm gettin itchy...just use the powerballs distortion????

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Are you getting the Powerball? If you were, just put the G-major in the FX loop of it and sort out your amp switching with your MIDI controller.

Of course, I will have to come and give the whole set up my eh... stamp of approval.. :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i'm gettin a loan soon so i might just get the powerball if i can shift the mg... and i think one way or another i'm gonna go rack..jesus that'd be sweet.. if i get it your more than welcome to give it a blast

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Gah, damn you people and your money and loans. I'll win the lotto soon enough. Then you'll all see. ALL OF YOU!!!

its a loan that i was plannin to bring me moth away for her birthday for.. feck it i'll get her a new fone... ah its a good life

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Gear > giving. You know it's true. Don't think I'd bother with a 4x12. I was moving my 2x12 combo and I've bolloxed my left shoulder. Maybe I should go see the fit physio in the hospital ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i fecked upme ankle but i know my pyhsio would be a big sweaty basteard so i'm bearin with it ha... i have a 4x12 already and its on wheels so its no bother...course u can't wheel it up and down stairs

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye. Personally, I don't see the point in a 4x12" in this country. Just raise a 2x12 off the floor and you're set for hearing yourself on stage and most venues will have a PA so will mic your amps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

yeah your not wrong i just went a bit mad u know yourself

don't wanna destroy kh's thread all together ..thats a nice ibanez u got very nice.. just check the priceone thomann and add on 60% and u have the irish price ;)

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Indeed. €600 isn't unrealistic then... Might drag it out to the local Ibanez dealer, see if he'd give me a good deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

no 600 is good ... i was looking at a prs tremonti a while ago and it was 600ish on thomann and 870 in musician inc.. stupid

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Aye, gear prices in this country are ridiculous altogether. Hmm, the idea of selling the Ibanez almost appeals to me. I'm not getting on well with the bridge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,968 ✭✭✭jcoote

i want a custom prestige with a flyod rose bridge and them seymour duncan pickups thats it !!!! sell it feck it change is good

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

It's lots of hassle though. Ah, I'll see.

Dunno what I'd get instead of it tbh. I'd need to replace it with something similar. I love the sound and the feel but I can't play the thing cos of the bridge :(
