Every weekend me and my mates run into the same problem it seems that there are no real good nightclubs in dublin. It seems that every time we go somewhere its just luck if we have a good night. Anyone have any comments on what there favourite nightclub because it seems the only O.K.ish one is boomerangs. Spirit seems to be a disaster every time as dose trafic and red box. Any one got any ideas on a place outside dublin city center? Im sick of wastin 80 odd euro on crap nights.

    pogo (POD) on Saturdays
    Backlash (Wax) on Thursdays
Sin e - Good irish pub along the keys just before Voodoo lounge(avoid voodoo lounge by the way)
I used to well up on my dublin nights out, but lack of money has degraded me to a social ret4rd.

there was a thread here with some nites mentioned down the page by skkkatter

Every nite i go into town i have a great laugh (without drink or drugs, well maybe the odd pint), depends what your looking for in a nite out.

there is a place just down from copper face jacks called the ivy rooms, thought was really good. it does play a good deal of dance music though

Well, it all depends on what your definition of a nightclub is. If its one of those generic clubs that play britney and all that ****e, one’s as good as the other. On the other hand, if you’re talking about clubbing, you could try the metropolitan. It’s along the keys beside tthe murphys laughter lounge.

I rarely go to nightclubs in Dublin....not cause I don't want to but because we seem to stick to late bars lately....always end up in Sin or Samsara. Last nightclub I was in was the Pod, thought that was good.

Anyone know when Sosume is opening back up?

Why did they change the name? What was wrong with Sosume?

    Ahhh I hate change!

if you think Boomerang is good then we're probably on different planets but Pod on Saturday is fantastic. haven't had so much fun in ages. RiRa is always fun too. hot people and good music.

I was in Discreet (what was Viva) last night, and it was kicking. Great music and nice crowd.

Its paralell to Grafton Street on the O connell street side of The Hideout.
I give it a 7.5 out of ten. Which is a brilliant rating for a Dublin Club

I thought Viva was now Mischief..

Anyway.. Late bars kick so much more ass than nightclubs do. My nights out in town usually involve The Front Lounge, Thomas Reads (downstairs), Isoldes Tower.. the latter opening till 4am on the weekends, with no cover charge..

Is RiRa a straight or gay night on Mondays?

Doyle's on D'Olier Street is great on a Saturday night. OK so it's not a club per se but it has a great DJ, people aren't too dressed up and you are guaranteed a great night. If it's a proper club you're looking for the Metropolitan is pretty good.

very very straight. more pulling opportunities than a pulling contest in pullsville pensilvania!

it's called strictly handbag and is an 80s night. still the single best club night in dublin IMO. if you haven't been, check it out. its been going for nay on 10 years now. i hate having to work tuesdays, just can't go anymore :(

Damn, I was just about to say that! Coppers is horrendous! Awful music and awful people. If you want to score with a big red faced bog woman/man, go to coppers.

I prefer Pogo, D1 and Whelans. I have gone to Tramco and Dicey Reilly's and had an ok time tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,604 ✭✭✭irishgeo

I have been its a **** hole but thats the only place my brother brings me. Tramco wasnt open the last time i was up.

I do like Doyles from time to time for a nice pint of guiness but it is full of ugly people, students and Au Pairs (All ugly!)

After a few pints if you get horny, you might aswell be on the pull in the pound.

    Hee hee....

Why did they change it to a gay bar :( Farewell Sosume....I met the most beautiful man in the world in that bar :(

I agree with Doyles, ended up there on Paddy's Day. Great craic!

Bear in mind, Doyles and Viva (RIP), are completely different types of bar/club.. They couldn't be further apart. Different clientelle also..
