    Download GSpot. It'll tell you what codec was used to encode the file. Think download.com has it. After that just google for the codec it gives you.

    Lock this TBH. Fairly Illegal.

    "HDTV" (meaning it was recorded from a HDTV source, not that the actual file itself is in HDTV format) files are usually encoded using DivX or XviD. I've noticed more of them tend to be XviD these days.

    Download the ACE Mega Codes Pack. Should sort out your problem

    I'd avoid codec packs if at all possible. They generally have outdated codecs, and have been known to cause a lot of problems on some systems. Just install what you need.

    As was said already, grab gspot, see what codec you need, and install that. I think i'd be fairly safe saying that if you installed FFDShow you'll have no problems playing the file back. Its available here

    Of course, if your brother did record it, why not just ask him how to play it back... and why did you get it off a P2P program if your brother recorded it :p

    Eh...actually...it is his business. It's all of our businesses if you ask for help with it and it's potentially illegal. I just posted about this earlier today.....

    Anyway, I've no problems with news stories being shared and I'm sure cnn don't either (seems like a perfectly legit hdtv piece of content).

    Anyway, like the others said...it's the codec you're looking for. I use the player from www.videolan.org for viewing most stuff. Find it very good.

    Probably, but no proof of this. Could be someone's home-made HDTV that they offer for free...

    P2P - Person to Person (PEER TO PEER)

    Me = Person (PEER)
    Brother = Person (PEER)
    Brother Sending Files TO me....

    Do the math or will i draw a picture.....?? :confused:
