When is Alonso set to return?

Campbell, Cygan, Edu, Gilberto, Pires, Ljungberg, Bergkamp, Henry.

Not as bad as Liverpool's, but only short fullbacks and a keeper of a full (and quite strong) team :)

Mike also forgot Ritchie Partridge who's out for the rest of the season.

Anyway, here's a possible lineup. Hamann might not be too pleased having to play in the centre of defence, other than that though, everyone is playing in their natual positions.

    Kirkland
    Josemi Hamann Hyypia Traore
    Kewell Alonso Garcia Warnock
    Morientes Cisse

    Subs
    Sinama-Pongolle, Mellor, Partridge.

Traore is a central defender - believe it or not.. Also swap Kewell to the left and Garcia to the right. ;)

    so the revised team

    Kirkland
    Josemi Hyypia Traore Warnock
    Garcia Alonso Hamann Kewell
    Morientes Cisse

    Subs
    Sinama-Pongolle, Mellor, Partridge.

This season though he's been playing mostly as a left back though?

    Proof Linky

I'd sooner trust Hamann in the back than Traore so I'll stick with my team ;)

indeed.. but he also played up front for liverpool against villa (during the second half).. so he is as flexible as yours (and his) imagination.

And he played up front for Burnley against Liverpool in the 2005 FA Cup third round, and scored a cracking goal

Surely its something to do with training regimes?

from everythingn I've read they're convinced it's not. But they are training harder than ever by all accounts.

If you look at the moment of injury for all three players yesterday though they all appear to have caught their feet and then extended another joint as a consequence. So maybe the weave of the home pitch is too tight?

Whats the breakdown of the kind of injury home vs. away I wonder?

Reading Liverpoolfc.tv they are naming Riise as injured also - at least Benitez has declared himself as a striker :p (if he gets injured too then he can blame his own training).

Hamann travelled to be part of the German squad, so that's positive. Also it's a good time for us to have international matches to interupt the course of the league - normally we're cursing them.

More wonderful news on the injury front for Middlesbrough as both Zenden and Job are ruled out for the next couple of weeks. Along with Vidukas 12 minute cameo between injuries means we now have 9 players on the treatment table. I reckon that puts us back ahead of liverpool and up top on the old injury list. Just in time for Arsenal too - yay :(

    McMahon
    Turnbull
    Morrison
    Christie
    Ehiogu
    Viduka
    Mendieta
    Zenden
    Job
