    The winner is licksy smile.gif
We would like to thank everyone who entered the standard was very good.I have the feeling that given more time a couple of late entries would have made the judging even harder.Licksy won us over with an easy to navigate and easy to update site.

Thanks again lads and sorry there could be only one winner frown.gif

    Nice one...
In case ye're interested (even if only for handbagging), here's a link to a draft...
    www.licksy.com

the arrangement of the menus is arbitrary (not finalised by any means yet)... and the content is mostly filler.. but I think the idea gets across... especially when the individual products are updated properly.
I mostly concentrated on the arsé end of the site, making it easy to maintain via forms -no html needed...
Now I have to sweeten it all up.. and add a few bells and whisltes... or something...™

I would like to make it known that this is a complete rip off design of www.udfclan.co.uk

But then again what can you expect for a graphics card?
    A new site?
    I don't think so....

I would like to make it know that the site is based on a template... not a rip-off... lol
here is a quote from the email I sent to stone when I first showed it to him..
<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">The whole site is based on my adaptation of a design template... I am not a designer and tend more towards the development (ASP) side of things so this is good for me (remember this ain't my job!)... I am fully licenced to use this design by the way</font>
..which by the way means "The End-User may use the Software in accordance with its stated purpose to assist in the development of web sites for personal or commercial use, free of any royalties or fees."

I did the ASP behind it, which allows the site to be updatable... which was one of his main concerns. This was not a "who is the most innovative designer" award type competition... he specificaly wanted a managable site that looked good... and well...

<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Logic most webmasters dont send there templates to people asking for them, if the person feels they must steal the HTML and use it all on there page it is quite easy to stop them. </font>

Damnyanks I think you misunderstood my rather clearly worded post.
You will notice I stated that companies will
    <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">SELL</font>
these templates to people. I never said people buy the templates then give them away. rolleyes.gif

Also it's not quite easy to stop people ripping off your template unless it's a server side processed form template. In that case the output is for the most part useless.

That site, urgh. I wish Stone had actually said that he wanted a site management application instead of a design (which is the route I went down).

And I *really* don't like the fact that my design lost out to a template. I'm sure that the ASP works wonders, but that's not what he asked for.

Argh. The main reason I'm ****ed off (not at you Licksy, more at Stone) is that I've wasted maybe 30+ hours on design when I could have wrote a Perl application to handle everything for him in less than that, adapting code I had previously.

    Argh!

Yea I'd feel pretty hard done by as well JustHalf.

It's quite obvious from all the posts that you put a sh!tload of effort in, and tbh I kinda liked your design.

    It wasn't made very clear.

But shure, no point whinging ... smile.gif

Sorry I didnt know it was a template just a rival clan's webpage. Logic most webmasters dont send there templates to people asking for them, if the person feels they must steal the HTML and use it all on there page it is quite easy to stop them.

plyd Licksy - looks very good (I'm a big fan of less is more) and that styles thing is a nice touch.

One thing I spotted - if you tab off the first name, it tells you that you need to fill in the email when I haven't even got that far. I guess your validation function is firing on the lostfocus of that first txt box.

    All the best!
