Accidentally "deleted" files - are they completely gone?

Guys, I've been spending the evening doing a bit of a "spring-clean" on my laptop - cutting-pasting files from the desktop etc. into their proper directory.

At wits end here, cos I just had Ctrl-X'd 2 word docs onto the clipboard - then I got a phonecall, spent a while on the phone.
So when I went back to what I was doing, I copied-pasted a folder-name into a new folder-name, FORGETTING that my 2 word docs were on the clipboard at the time that I took the phonecall. So when I then went to look for the files in the folder that they had been in, they had of course vanished.
I did a full Windows search of word docs that I'd accessed during the day, but the missing files only appeared as shortcuts.

I have a "working knowledge" of DOS, and know that there's some kind of "undelete" command available.... Anyone know what this command is...? I'm not optimisic though, cos I didn't actually "delete" the files. I "cut" them - but is this technically equivalent to deleting them? The files don't appear in the recycle bin, so I suppose that "cutting" is like deleting, but bypassing the recyle bin.

Theres a program called PC Inspector File Recovery that will get back any files you accidentally delete. Google it and you'll get a download somewhere.

If possible, download to another PC and put on a floppy. Otherwise your deleted files could be written over.

If you cut and don't paste, the files remain in their original location
