    Hi Lads

    Was looking up the system for Sky Italia.
    It seems to be a modified Sky digibox. Any one know any more about it?
    Can you get a subscription if you don't live in Italy?

    I guess you could get a Sky Italia Digibox second hand or new with out going direct to Sky Italia. Might look into geting one for playing with.

    Thanks,
    Eóin

    Sky Italia uses a similar (but not identical) system to sky digital. You can only get a subscription if you live in Italy and you need to keep the digibox connected to your phoneline. Should be possible to pick a box up second hand alright, you need a reasonable sized dish (preferably 1.2m) pointing at 13 degrees east to get it to work. You will find it difficult to get a card though.

    80cm dish works fine.
    sky italia receivers don't have to be connected to the telephone line.
    2 types one with modulator, and one without modulator,
    sky button on remote is back up on last channel,
    nicer looking epg.
    made by pace.

    Tis a $ly uk clone more or less. Although an official card, a dreambox and necessary software can yield results :) Same applies to uk.

    There is still a challenge going through the system in relation to having to use the dodgybox. Be interesting to see its outcome in italy.

    That could be interesting news. They may have to make a CAM for NDS.

    See ya,

    Thats a rehash of "Gbox" support for V1 NDS cards(old sky) that apparently works on NDS Viasat sub cards. Im not sure if SkyItalia would work and I think the current SkyUk cards and FTV cards wont work. I tried this on my Dbox2 and the V1 card came up in the menu but at that point SkyUk had changed over. I posted the screenshot last yr on the boards.

    Has anyone a dreambox or a dbox2 that they can install the software and try a FTV card for example with the current version of newcamd or gbox.
    Using a decent receiver with an origional UK skysub card would tempt me back to subscribe or get an FTV card for CH4/5.

    Lets be honest, skydigiboxes are total rubbish in terms of build quality and general limitations. I swapped mine for a diseq motor!

    telecinesk the latest "release" is working with all variants of the unmentionable cards.

    certain satellite services, which i wont mention here, can be accessed on a dreambox with a emulated gbox cam 1.35 (kangaroo image has it by default)

    but seemingly one has to have a phoenix programmer with serial cable and power supply, plus certain info has to be got off the official *** card and this info generated into hex numbers which are copied into a special text file and uploaded to dreambox,

    at the moment the built in cams in the dream will not open the card neither will a usb progger, do a google for "toecutters den" will throw up lots of info.

    PS. at the moment the mentioned italian bouquet of channels are available on a dream with the right emulation

    nuff said there is another world out there :)

    This is going off topic kind of: However, its been reported elsewhere that an FTV card is working in a dreambox provided the orig boxID it was initialised in, is dumped into a file and the rest of the procedure is complicated, early days yet. However I am going to look into getting an FTV card in order to see if it will work on a dbox2 using neutrino and a cardreader mod.(Multicam board that you put in place of the modem in a nokia)
    Anyone else able to try this or help me out?

    Booting the digibox out the door is coming soon.......................And if it works Id even subscribe to sky for the fun of it.

    Sky italia,
    are supplying free sky italia digiboxes , to any italian with subscription to there service using the seca 2 system,
    Rx is posted to the customer in italy with card,
    customer has no choice in rx, with or without modulator, but if they complain they receive a second rx, with modulator,
    only problem modulator is pal G, not pal I.fine in italy. :mad:
    hope this helps.

    off topic again
    if a ftv card "will" ?? work in a dreambox, it begs the question will a sub car* work in the 2nd card reader slot (dreambox), giving the best of both worlds, time will tell

    to anyone interested, i have got the dream to open a certain card in the top internal card reader, full sub opened,

    i have an ft* card with original box id (box ids can be different for each card reader) also working in bottom reader,

    so itv, ch4, five, rte etc are accessible on the dreambox without switching cards, cool eh

    to mods, as this seup needs a ftv card or/and a sky sub with original box id, i do not think that this info is classed as hackin*

    pm if u need info

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 214 ✭✭arkles

    the ft* card does not need a boxid once it has been already activated it will work in either slot

    Arkles,
    you might provide us with a few screenshots from the dreambox and a "how to" sticky here for those who want to dump their digibox.. Looks like I will have to go get an ftv card from my mate next week.. Sky sub can wait a little bit.

    Whats the story with the Uk FTV cards, I have the dreambox 7000s but dont have a sky digibox and either do any of my friends and I have a friend who's working in London. But he doesnt have sky either, does he need a sky digibox(box id etc) to order a FTV card? I know theres ebay, but atm theres a card going for £50! with time left and then theres those typical uk rip off sites who charge £50 for activating and giving an address on top of the £20 price for a card that basically gives you ITV1,2 CH4 and Channel 5.

    somehow i think this info is best hid away and not made a sticky ? :)

    2 files are needed
    cardserv.config
    (da important one)cardserver0961.dream

    1st download gemini 105 as it seems to be the best image for this, then download newcamd 5.28 via the Gemini download option (the standard version is fine)

    also get ws_95se (ftp) i presume u/ye have a cat cable and have lan setup on dream ?,
    u will need flashwizard 5 to telnet (easiest to use)

    SET THE CAM TO COMMON INTERFACE FIRST)

    ftv ur dream using the above ftv prog, and transfer the 2 files

    cardserver0961.dream to var/bin
    and rename it to cardserver ,remove any other ref to cardserv(er),
    chmod to 755, (right click file, chmod, tick all the executes)

    cardserv.cfg to var/tuxbox/config (replace ur old one)

    modify the cardserv.cfg file with BOXID = xxxxxxxxxx (uppercase) (with serial no from digibox originally matched to sky card)

    enter boxid at x

    # upper card slot
    #
    SERIAL_PORT = 0
    TCP_PORT = 10000
    BOXID = 00******** x
    EMM-G = yes
    EMM-S = yes
    EMM-U = yes
    SPECIAL_FEATURES = no
    DISABLE_PIN = yes

    if 2nd card is used append bottom slot text to read box id of that card + change special features to no

    save file chmod to 755

    TELNET dreambox (from flashwizard)
    cd var/bin and HIT enter
    and type the command ./cardserver

    and when you see the card its ok and listening
    choose newcamd on the Dreambox

    it will prolly take a few attempts, i had to transfer the files a few times and reboot a few times, one prob is that once u change sat or reset box cardserver will have to be reactivated (cd /var/bin ./cardserver

    hope this helps

    if u cant find the 2 files pm me ur email addy and i will send
