That's the one. To preempt the supplementary question, the chap's name (the one with the neat haircut and light manner) was Sofar Sogood.

Hehe! "Light manner", I think the word you're looking for is:
    CAMP! :D

The actress that played "Slightly bonkers" in forty coats & Co is Virgina Cole (now a barrister) and she was married to John McColgan who was the producer of the Riverdance.

Thing is, he wasn't actually all that camp, though he was the kind of chap you'd expect to don a new pair of designer gloves every time he gave the toilet a good scrub.

    Fortycoats
So Far So Good (Not Light Manner)
    Slightly Bonkers
    The Wirlegig Witch

But what was the Cats name?

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,731 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

The actress who played Slightly Bonkers was Sighle Tóibín (daughter of Niall) who went on to play Oliver McCoy's daughter Noleen in Fair City before drifting into a series of dead-end jobs (she was my boss once for three months - fupping nightmare) and eventually becoming a director/producer.

There may have been two actresses who played SB, but she was definitely one of them. Virginia Cole was Mrs. Burgess in The Snapper and also appeared in The Irish R.M.

The cat was simply called Spooky.

Hmm, it might just be possible that ST played the Whirligig Witch then...

Sofar Sogood never had red hair, did he?

No! he wore a hat, looked like a butler.

I remember the issue of getting a Bosco puppet coming up on Ian Dempsey's radio show ages and ages ago. It could have been when Emily Tully was still reading the news - her mum is Paula Lambert who of course performed Bosco. Anyway, she said the only way you'd be able to get a Bosco puppet nowadays is to make one. So get out your needle and thread. Oh, and BE CAREFUL WITH THAT SCISSORS.
