Call Center Headsets?????

Does anyone have any experience of the headsets used in call centers. We have been using a particular brand which were not cheap but have not stood the test of 6 months of agent use. I have a budget of about €300 for 10 sets, but I would probably be able to get more.

I really need to find something that has an additional volume control.(background noise can be disruptive) They are being used in conjunction with a soundblaster live.

    Any body got any ideas???

€300 will only buy 10 cheap headsets unless prices have dropped massively. We used to buy Platronics which were excellent. I think it was about €150 for the amp part and then €70 for the head set part a few years ago.
The policy on how the staff use and store the headsets really determines the time they last. Haven't looked at this in a while but I think under new health and safety regs require that each person has their own headset and don't interchange.

plantronics do a real nifty one that connects to both the phone and soundcard at the same time allowing you to listen to music while not on the phone...

Thanks for the relplies guys, the headsets we are currently using are the Plantronics audio 80, we have about 15 pairs of these. They run two analogue 3.5mm plugs (Mic/Headphone), aside from breaking, they work fine but I think what the agents want is something that will cover their entire ear instead of sitting on top. I have seen some trust ones but having no idea what they are like it's a risk buying them.

MorningStar, do you have any idea where I can get a copy of the new health and saftey regs regarding headphones?

    Thanks again,

    We use these:

They're not cheap, but by God, do they rock. Nothing like troubleshooting someone's machine while you're getting your coffee from the coffee cart, or going for a little stroll. :D

I would say you might fight it here http://www.oasis.gov.ie/

But you can just ring them and they will tell you. I am pretty sure my wife told me because she had to replace a head set for every student in her class. I used to work in a small call centre and if we did that it would have cost us a fortune. A lot of part time staff and high turnover.

Them trust ones are a no no.
I had them (and know others) and they give you sore ears after about 30~40 mins of having them on, not much good i would think.
www.overclockers.co.uk have a good selection of headphones (they're in the speakers section).
    Hope this helps,

We had these where I used to work, found them very comfortable for all day use.
