Yeah, its kinda old, and I don't have Expansion, but I was handed the CD a few months ago by a friend who doesn't need it anymore.

ANYWAY, can anybody suggest some really good Strategy Website for AOE2?
I googled for a few, but they all seem pretty lame.

    Cheers

WHile I dont know any strategy site's, from experiance the way to go is get loads and LOADS of economy up (about 120 off pop between villagers/trade cart), and then get up loads of barracks etc and simply keep a constant army of 80 throughout the entire late game. Early game harass their villagers, particularly their wood cutters and miners, as goin straight for the food producer's can be dangerous as their usually tucked away in the centre of the base, and just perform hit and runs on their villagers with small squads of cavelry, 5 or 6 scout cavelry can make a good wee mess of villagers, and when you get knights 3 or 4 make an even larger mess. Just keep the pressure on and get castle age as quick as possable (dont rush to the imperial age - it only provide's upgrades which are both expensive and not really worth it until later game when your swimming in resource's). And never underestimate the value of building walls inside your own base to protect farmers from a cavelry rush, while the walls on the outside of your base dont be long falling to ram's/treb's building walls in the middle of your base to wall in precious villager's can put any cavelry rush in the middle of your base with nowhere to run and no villager's to maim, and then its juts a mop up operation.

    Economic Development

    120 Villagers!!???!!!
I guess the biggest number of villagers I've had at a go have been 25-30 - including fishing boats.
A constant military force of 80!!!
I'm lucky if I can squeeze out 10 infantry men, 5 archers and 5 cavalry.
    I'll take these suggestions.

    Military Development

So far, my only strategy has been to build rows of walls around my base, punctuated with watch towers - these towers fall pretty quickly because they become of the focus of the attakers attention.
I've never considered attacking, well not until I felt I had sufficient forces, which hasn't happened to me yet.
I'll try that cavalry group idea - seems interesting.

In AoE2 turtling simply doesnt work (hiding inside your base and building up a full army before even leaving ure base), the otherp layers will have reign over 90% of the maps resource's while you sit behidn your high walls with maybe 3 clusters of gold and 2 of stone, unless of course its a 4way free for all or something and pray the other guys wipe each other out, but still, it's ill advised, rushing is your friend :) or of course if your playing AI where the computer is pretty incompetant at taking down walls with castles behind them.

Seen a few of them legion match's, unfortunately the 1v1's seem very boring, as one player usually leaves (losing player) the second thigns start looking pear shaped after the early skirmish's and villager killing raids.

As for on-line play my experiance was just with 8 of us, usually got about 4-6 per night about 3 times a week there for a period of about 3 months (havent played it online in ages tbh) and we all just played TCP/IP games with each other, had some great games of it, RTS's just dont appeal to me on-line unless its with m8's, they just seem too impersonal otherwise :)

Aoe 2 is old? I still play the original Age Of Empires on the zone. That game is classic, and a lot more difficult than AoK...I normally settle on 80 vills, have around 60 barracks, and hit pop limit at 5 mins on 2.0 speed (Deathmatch!)

Cheap trick always works build walls around Trebuchets they may only fire one way but will fire one way for a long long time.

Playing the CPU is stupid it does the same trickle attack for the entire game sending wave after wave of 2 lads

cheap evil tricks are my forte

send scout to enemy base as soon as your wood and berries are found, scout all enemies gold and stone piles, then send one villager as early as possible, usually around 4 - 5 minutes, to palasade wall the found gold and stone, if the villager is not dead by feudal, start building stone walls

The ultimate proper lamer tactic is build a wall around their Town Centre, if you do it right you can even get this to work in on-line games, if your very sneaky, and the otherp layer is very unobservant, got it done on one of my teammates once, was well funny :)

    Aaahahahaha yeah :)
I did it to an enemy player... he quit the game over it.
Pretty easy to do in blackforest if you start wide and work your way inwards.
Where do you play Pugsley? Your name seems familiar... think I might have pwned you a few times.
