    BIOS UPDATE MIGHT WORK

or a pci ide controller will do the trick

    i.e.

do a proper search. You should be well able to get one for less than €40

    What model is the 166?
What bios runs on the 166 and what version is the bios?

The reason I ask is because there are limitations to hard disk size within bioses... e.g. the standard int13 interface maxed out at 8gigs and then int13 extensions were introduced to overcome this.... there are many other cut-offs for disk sizes for different reasons.

    That's daylight robbery from peats!!
I got a Sunsway SiliconImage 6880 chipped PCI-Ide controller for €20 at christmas and its well capable of operating my two 300GB Maxtor Drives!!!!

Im shocked at the price of that controller from Peats!!!
