Well it looks like RTE and TG4 have at least made a bit of an effort with a few good films on over the course of the day, (2002 version of The Time Machine at teatime on TG4 for a start).

BUT, TV3 have done bugger all except give the Ireland AM crew a day off and cut a news bulletin at teatime. No clues at all on their schedule that this is a national holiday.

What does the time machine have to do with Ireland?

Irish "pop star" Samantha Mumba is in it.

I always thought "pop" was short for "popular"...

And what has the Terminator got to do with Ireland?

I am sure there is a link somewhere, maybe some of the crew are Irish.

I think RTE ONE could have had some tradition programming on, History of Patrick or something.

And let RTE TWO have there Thursday night movie as usual.

Yes - had to laugh at our national holiday being marked by our state broadcaster by everyone going home and popping on Terminator 3 - and of all films too

How ridiculous - just think of all those Americans in their hotel rooms turning on the telly in anticipation of some Irish celebratory fare and finding T3 on :)

they could have said "oh golly gosh howard, T3 is on. remember how we didnt get to see it at the drive in because your tyre was flat. luckily for us we are in Ireland tonight and RTÉ are showing it"

Sure, doesn't it have Arnold O'Schwarzeneggar in it?

Meh, maybe it's good to give people a break from the day as well.
