Haven't a clue how to fix this one. I'm trying to save some JPEG images from d'internet onto my computer. When I save them, they save as bitmaps!

I'm using Ofoto as my default viewer (have been doing so for years - with no probs) & using Windows XP

Can anybody help me? I'm totally & utterly baffled!!!!!

if they're bmp files on the sites then they'll save as bmp files... easy way of converting is open them in paint and then save them as jpegs

    Hey Steve

The problem is - they are JPEG files to begin with! I have a large jpeg file on my PC & it's now showing as a .bmp - seeing as it's a 2MB file... that would be a bit daft!

There should be an option for File..Save As (sounds like you are doing File..Save - subtle difference).

When the Save As.. dialogue box opens, it may have a default extension to .bmp, I would imagine you would be able to change it to jpeg.

Have you cleared your cache recently?

Yeah, this can happen in IE when your temp internet files folder is full.

    Solution (in IE):

Tools>IEOptions>General / Temporary net folders -> Delete Files...

Better make it a chocolate cake then.

I've had this problem a few times (not since I stopped using IE btw). if it's a once off, refreshing the page usually does the trick, if it's an ongoing thing it's almost certainly the cache as mentioned above.
