just thought i'd share this with you,

i have a 512mb pen drive (it had a good few important files on it) and i had it in my pocket of my jeans.

Now the thing is i stuck the jeans in the wash unaware that the pen drive was still in it. When i was emptying the washing machine i noticed the pen drive in the machine and i thought **** my data is gone.

but i stuck it in the hot press for a couple hours to dry off and then connected it back to the computer (i was absolutely sure that it wouldn't work)

and long behold the drive still worked and functioned properly, i was still able to transfer files back and forth with ease.

moral of story: the fool may of been lucky but he knows now not to stick his pen drive into any machine bar his pc machine.

    Another important moral:
Don't wash your cloths, you never know whats in the pockets

Jeez, seems flash memory is tough stuff. I saw an article recently where there were photos of the oncoming tsunami. The takers of the photos had died, but the flash memory still had the photos!

Once there is no power going into it, I would imagine there is nothing to short out..
