I just bought a nikon 5400 (5 megapixel). I want to buy a compactflash microdrive, 2.2gig or 4gig. I was just wondering will these be slow to write to? After I take a picture, will it take a few seconds to save the image to the cf card? Or will I just get a 1024 mb flash based cf card?

I recommend to get a CF-card instead. These things are cheap enough anyway. I got two 1GB ExtreMemory cards last year for €75 each and they are as fast as the very very very expensive Lexar high-speed cards. Also, you can drop a CF-card loads of times but you will only drop a Microdrive once or twice :)
