free college fees?

does anyone know if you can get free entry to colleges once your over 25??? i heard this somewhere and i told my friend who wants to go back but they cant find anything on it.

If you are a mature student, ie over 23, you do not pay fees..

I presume your friend doesn't already have a degree/diploma? Just I noticed you said your friend wanted to "go back". If they already have a diploma and want to do another they have to pay full fees, same for a degree.

Aye - only covers first entry into the Irish 3rd level system, and even at that only covers the public universites & institutes and none of the private colleges.

Mmm. You can get a full second bite of the cherry if the first degree course wasn't completed and there's a five year gap or greater between dropping out of the first one and commencing the second one though.
