I have an interview with FAS next monday for a Traineeship course. Do anyone know if it would be a 'Shirt and tie' type interview or just look smart?

Difinetly i'll loose the jeans and t-shirt!

    Any advice??

Dress to impress man, no matter what your applying for, a smart and well dressed proposed candidate will always make a good impression . ..Shows you are serious and hold the job in high regard

Yeah I probably will, Slap on the aftershave!!
It's not a job interview though, its just to get on a course there!

I did the shirt & tie route. i'm now in a course in FAS (Ballyfermot) doing networking. Where abouts are you going for it?

It's in Baldoyle, the Security equipment traineeship.

Shirt & tie. Hard to overdress for an interview unless you turn up in a tux. It's only a small thing as you were planning on dressing neatly anyway but if there's nothing to distinguish you from another candidate they may well think "that guy made more of an effort to be presentable than the other guy so we'll give it to him". Interviews like people who bother their ass to make an effort.

Personally I wouldn't wear a shirt and tie for this type of interview, a shirt by all means though.

Hey i was thinking the same thing! should i wear a shirt and tie or just wear casual clothes!, then i thought if i show up in a shirt and tie im gonna look better than the rest of the applicants coz most of them think ah what the **** its only a FAS interview, i'll wear whatever i want, but i tell you, i showed up in my shirt and tie and i got my place on the course! and i recon it was manly to do with the fact that i made some effort to impress them by dressing up, so they took me more seriously, just like bobmeaney says DRESS TO IMPRESS no matter what it is! First impressions are the key!

A shirt and tie would be the way to go imho. Even a nice suit if you have one. Although that might be slightly overdressed, but it would show that you care and are making an effort. But a suit wouldn't be necessary at all imho.

Shirt, slacks and a tie. Matching, ironed and clean (belating the obvious here). If you don't own any nice ones, I'd consider picking some up, they aren't too expensive, or if borrowing some if they are the right size for you.

The size being right is important imho.

I have an interview with Fas except its to teach the course! Healthcare trainer has anyone done or been called for these interviews? Also if anyone has done such a course it would be helpful also !

No worries, just smart, casual dress and some certificates proving education and experience... 2 minutes conversation :)

Always dress smartly and appropriately for any interview, whether it is for a place on a course or a job interview. You only get one chance to make a good impression, don't waste it.

And if you are over dressed, so what, better to be over dressed than under dressed. I'm sure if they'd tell you if there is a dress code for the course you are doing.
