Students Union Nominations

    Hi all,

    The following nominations were recieved for the Students Union Elections.

    President of the Student Union:
    Sarah Farrell
    Claire Keohe

    Education Officer:
    Yvonne Tuohy

    Welfare Officer:
    No nominations were recieved. As no nominations were recieved the nominations
    have been reopened for a further five days and will now close on the 22nd
    of March at five pm, nomination forms are available in the SU recption area.

    Women's officer:
    Laura Whitmore

    Club's and Societies Officer:
    Selina Siobhan Hickey

    Humanities Convenor:
    Gillian McVeigh

    Business Convenor:
    Clare Blacklaw

    Science Convenor:
    David Grimes

    Engineering Convenor:
    Sinead Harrington
    Eoin Cleary

    Students Finance Committee:
    Jennifer Lynch

    Postgraduate Chairperson:
    Sandra Rothwell

    Postgraduate Education Officer:
    Declan Carey
    Sinead McGivney

    In the case of the Welfare Officer as the nominations have been reopened,
    the position will now become a part time position and will be a non-sabbatical
    position.

    Congratulations to all candidates and Best of luck in the coming elections.
    Elections will take place on the 30th and 31st of March, Hustings for the
    coming elections will take place between one and three next Thursday the
    24th of March in the Venue in the Hub. We hope to see you there.

    For all these positions where there's only one nomination, does this mean they get elected by default?

    Yeah I think so. There's probably some way of objecting though. The only people I know on that list are the two nominated for S.U. President.

    Sarah Farrell gets my vote.

    A bit disappointing that most positions have only one candidate. I guess it's another sign of apathy and a lack of community spirit in DCU students. :(

    I don't think they get elected by defaul per se, I think they have to receive a minimum amount of votes, I could be mistaken though.

    I'd have considered welfare officer, but now that it's part time I wouldn't have any time.

    they'll have to reach quorm which varies from faculty to faculty.
    i ran on my own and doubled quorm! yeay!
    sarah also gets my vote.
    i so shuda gone for clubs n socs!
