    Hi all,

Got connected to IBB today in Dun Laoghaire area.

Subscribed to Breeze Lite 1Mb, 20:1 contention.

Install went well. Have an existing pole on the roof for the panel antenna so lashed it up quick enough and straight into the signal test, which is currently at 4 bars beaming to Killiney Hill. Fished the CAT5 down the chimney into the bedroom so no drilling holes.

The setup and configuration is slow & tedious which is done through telnet. A bit like doing FDISK, only with a heap more menus.

Web browsing is very quick and file downloading ain't bad. Slowest so far is approx 40KBytes/sec and the most is 100-120KBytes/sec while downloading XP SP2.

SO, happy so far...better than crap dial-up anyday.

    Cheers,
    Dara.

hmmm...I have heard of ping etc, but never got the hang of it. give me a few numbers to ping and i will let you know the results.

    start>run>type cmd> ping www.boards.ie
That will ping boards 4 times. If you want to keep it going type ping www.boards.ie -t. That will give you a better indication of how you are pinging. Itll usually be between 9-15ms if all is working well.

    i am averaging 7ms

min is 6, max is 8.

with the -t switch, went from 5 upto about 9.

Netsource should be ashamed of themselves then I reckon :(

As for testing your download speeds, try some of the bigger files from http://gamefiles.blueyonder.co.uk/blueyondergames/ ?
