Format the drive, then install the new version.

Backup any files that you need from the partition that you are going to format before formatting as you will lose the files...

When you were installing and got to the point of creating/formatting an NTFS partition - did you delete the existing one....?

Did you create a 2nd partition during the install....?

Yeah like i think i created one..when i was selecting to partition it or not..it said that there was not enough space on the original or something..i cant really remember :(..but now when i turn the machine on i have the choice of the original windows version or the new one..I really wanted just to wipe everything from the old version...can i still do it without having to go through the process of reinstalling windows again..and can someone please explain to me how i cant format..

    Thanxs

Judging from your reply about "formatting" if I was you I'd bite the bullet and re-install again. This time when you get to create/format ntfs partition... slow down. Delete all existing partitions first. Then create a new partition and continue.

Otherwise, with your existing you could edit the boot.ini file, remove an entry from it (have to be sure which is the right one!) and delete the 1st partition through XP.

    You'll see them as C: and D:

Read the prompts carefully... I believe D to delete and L to confirm...

Before you create a new partition you will know whether all your others are deleted first....
