    Hi all,

I have found that the price of memory stick duo pro 512MB varies quite a bit in Dublin.

The cheapest I have found is Pixels off Henry Street D1.

Sandisk memory stick duo pro 512MB €80.

He's talking about the memory stick though mate, like you'd put in a Sony Digital Camera or whatever.

    You've linked to a flash drive :)

Sure you didn't mean this 512MB Memory Stick Pro

I have been watching the prices on Komplett, but then you would have to pay a minimum of €10 carrige. So €80 for a Dublin shop is really very resoanble, when usually they are at least 20-50% over the usual price at komplett.

I wanted to show that we can get reasonable value for money in Dublin :)

€80 is a good price for this from a bricks & mortar shop in Dublin.

If it is a Sandisk unit, then it is not available ATM. No one has them in stock, I should know I have a backorder with Komplett for a month for one.

Komplett list the 1GB at €119 so at €64 it must be below cost price. You would have to ask yourself what sort of after sales support you are likely to get from someone selling at below cost.

I dont think after sales service is a real issue when you are buying something like this ...

Pixmania has some deals now on memory sticks.
Check the following links, 36 euro for 512 MB and 70 euro for 1GB keys.

Thats why I asked for a link to it on ebay. Probably has postage of €20 on top of that.

"memory stick" is what sony call there type of card (stupid name, too generic) another card type is "secure digital"
People seem to be getting mixed up thinking "memory stick" refers to usb pen drives.

My mistake, I did indeed get mixed up with USB pen drive and "memory stick". Bah, Sony!

This isnt about memory keys though. The only thing that is a memory stick is the sony ones or the ones licensed by sony.

I think thats the idea, very easy to remember. Plus its the most common name people use,

A good idea on sonys part, bad for the consumer, very easy to remember and mistake. I wonder how many have been bought by mistake increasing sony's profits.
I have seen "memory stick" on webstores but they were selling pen drives, I have also clicked on it thinking it was going to bring me to a sub menu.

Its the same as calling a usb key an mmc card or a compact flash card.

True, especially since that SanDisk product (as far as I know) comes with lifetime warranty.

I think we have established that the price quoted was not for a memory stick duo pro and as such not relevant.
