=*Not wishing to spark a debate on where house prices are going*=

My friends and I are not exactly in a position where we wish to commit to a buy to live property. However we are keenly aware of being left behind, so to speak. We are all relatively well off. Assuming we can agree on all the obvious sticking points I have a few questions...

Can anyone point me in the direction of information on the particular legals / gotchas / etc of buying property(s) as a group (3+) for investment purposes. Can it be done?

For example could we establish a company as an investment vehicle? What kinda money would you need to invest in it before the banks would take you seriously? Can a company "mortgage"? Or is this just a pipe dream?

The idea would be to invest in a property, rent to cover mortgage, split any profits in the mid-to-long term from sale / rental. Possibly investing in further properties depending on how it goes.

    TIA.
