I have the Asus P5AD2 Premium board and think is great, loads of extras with it, in the spec it said there is only 4 SATA connectors but there are actually 8 :D I’ve no experience of the Abit board but to be honest there isn’t a lot between them so either will do the job perfectly Anandtech gives both good reviews.

i've had nothing but good experiences with Abit. Never used Asus. I got the NF7, it was a great board, so continued to buy Abit boards!

Depends on what kind of system you are going for. Socket A i would go for Abit if 939 i would go ASUS!

I was at the ITforum last year in November
I was talking to an AMD rep
He advised me to go for socket 939 FX-55
with an Asus nforce board with e-pci

He also said 939 is the start of a long road map

He gave the links to the two specific boards he was choosing between, and they're both intel-based.

As for Abit, i had a board of theirs and it had two dodgy capacitors pop on me. Didn't kill it, but it borked the voltage to my AGP slot, so i couldn't play 3d games after that.

Also, i could never own a motherboard called "Fatal1ty".

    I'd go with Asus.

hey Balfa , do u still have this abit board with the cap problem,
I have preformed a procedure called CPR on a motherboard (Capacitor Part Replacement) once before , with the aid of my assistant Nurse Dazza(Mr Daz) the Mainboard worked perfectly afterwards
