Any cheap online bike shops? I saw some mentioned in this forum but it was mostly high-end stuff. I just want a new chain and 11-24 7 speed freewheel.

I don't know of any. Not to say they don't exist of course.

My gut instsinct would be that you're looking for two items which are relatively heavy and not that expensive in teh shops - so any saving you'd make online would be counterbalanced by posting and packaging...

Yep, thats what I have found so far! It is worth it for highend stuff though.
Postage from the UK is not too bad. I saw a few things on ebay. I am just so used to getting electronics and dvds for 1/2 price on the web that I probably am expecting too much.

It is worth it for the convenience too.

Chain Reaction (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com) in Belfast is one of the most reliable online shops around. They also offer free delivery to Ireland and the UK. You might find what you need there (not sure about the freewheel though).

I've used http://www.bikedock.com (Belfast?) recently for a speedometer.
http://www.wiggle.co.uk and http://www.evanscycles.co.uk are mainland UK based ones. I've not used them.

Thanks a lot. I got a new shimano 11/34 freewheel on ebay for €17.50 delivered. Got a shimano chain from http://www.chainreactioncycles.com for €13 delivered. They do 24hr delivery for free!

Rang the local shop who had a generic chain for €12.50 but for an extra 50c I have matching quality shimano parts and dont have to leave the house.
