Just wondering if anyone could help. I'm doing a critical appraisal on a scientific paper for college and one of the questions is : Give an example of the type of equation that could be used to calculate the sample size required.

The exp had a power of 90% so I presume they mean what equation would they have used to work out how many people needed to give them that?

    Thanks

Is there any confidence level, standard deviation or variance given?
