    Hi All,

    Anonymous for this posting! ;-)

Simple question I hope : How do I go about getting my sperm count tested? Any experiences to share? Any good doctors/clinics to recommend? Dublin based.

    thanks a lot.

I imagine an enquiry to your GP would be your first stop. He can then recommend you to a GUM clinic or some-such.

Is there any particular reason you need to know? Having problems creating a pregnancy?

I don't mean to be fastidious but if one knew the procedure and had the inclination and the resources then this is perfectly valid.

A few months after I got the snip carryed out a few years ago I had to have two sperm test carried out a month apart to make sure the procedure had worked.

I was given two containers and envelops and after using them I just dropped them into the lab in the Retundra hospital they sent the results to the doctor and he gave me the all clear over the phone.

So just go to a gp and he will set it up for you

I don't want to be too personal, but why do you think you need to have your sperm count checked?

Are you trying for a baby?

I do recommend if that is the case to contact your Doctor who can recommend you a number of specialists to meet with........

You would be refered almost certainly to a maternity hospital or unit.......

ok this may seem like a weird question but, i presumed when you have the 'snip' that nothing is produced afterwards, or to be specific, nothing is excreted? is this not true? do you still... you know, cummeth?

Although your testicles produce sperm - which is now blocked by removing small parts of the tubes connecting them - semen is also produced by the prostate gland and the seminal vesicles in combination. So you still come, but no sperm contained therein.

As said, go to your GP, it's simple enough.

I posted useful advice. I now REALLY REALLY want to post the totally useless but highly amusing advice I originally came up with but I'm not going to because I'll get banned.

    I deserve a medal.

Purely curious (delete if you want Anna):

Does it look and/or taste the same?
    ie. has your wife/partner commented?

Like I said, just curious. PM if you don't wish to post in public.

An important point is that it is possible your sperm count is actually OK. Therefore it is important to discuss this with your partner and to see any doctors together.

    Best of Luck!

Had a sperm count recently (well six months ago) as it happens. you have to go to your GP who will supply you with a sample jar & note for the lab (usually the rotunda).

Whack off into the jar (you do this at home or somewhere private - there's no porn room in the rotunda or anything), then you have to leave the sample into the lab within an hour (you have to write the time of "arrival" on the jar.

The lab then examine it & return the results to your doc. There's a €25 charge payable in the rotunda, in addition to your doc's fee.

Usually takes about 10 days for results.

Incidently qwertyphobia (couriosity got the better of me) - colour & texture of your ejaculate after the snip ???

well seeing that it seams there are a few posters interested in my cum, ;) I can reassure you that there is no difference in what you produce apart from of course that it's missing the vital ingrediant needed for life.

Sperm makes up quite a small percentage of cum so there is no noticable difference in amount/look/taste/smell
