Western Digital 250gig Drives in Aldi

I Was in the Moore street aldi yesterday, and they had WD250gig hard drives for 129.99, not too bad at all, and same ones are over 160 on elara! They had 4 left from last time aldi did deal.

as i remember those harddrives had a 2mb cache, good price though

Thought it was 5mb Cache its actually 2 megabyte cache as corrected by kingster!

Hmm nearly sure it would only be a 2mb or 8mb cache. Never heard of a 5mb cache.
Think those aldi ones are 2mb

Ambrose is right Ted, it was 2MB cache if they are the same ones they had a few weeks back.
5MB is an unlikely number since memory(including cache type memory) is manufactured in powers of 2 because binary is the base of computing. 2 to the power of 0 equals 1, 2 to the power of 1 equals 2, 2 to the power of 2 equals 4, ..., 2 to the power of 6 equals 64, etc. It's just plain maths and I can't see any manufacturer putting a 4MB cache chip on and then tacking on a 1MB chip as well to make it 5.

Oh Arent ya great, we Have already gathered that over 7 hours ago and i cant believe you didnt reply sooner! If you have something constructive to say then say it otherwise thanks for stating something which was already stated and showing how great you are!:)

Checked last night and kinkstr you were correct, it does have 2MB and as kinkstr said " ..., good price though" They are still good for price!

Reliability. Hard drives are the one thing you don't want to skimp on, because if they fail, there goes all your data. So buy a name-brand manufacturer. Opinions differ but most people will say that Seagate are best in terms of reliability.
