    Hi
Can anyone here help me, I've built a new machine over the wekend with the above mobo, an AMD 3000+, and 2x512mb TwinMos 3200DDR ram and an ASUS 6600 PCIx

Basically the system does not show anything when I start it up, just gives a bios beep, 1long beep and then a pause before doing the same thing again.
I think it's an AMI Bios on the mobo, and I think that means there's a prob with the memory (can anyone confrim this?), the RAM is taken from my old machine and work fine, I may have placed it in the wrong slot, there are 4 and I tried it with 1 stick in the blue slot closest to the cpu then tried it with the second stick in the black slot next to it.

    Anybody got any ideas?
    any help is greatly appriciated.
    Thanks

Your on the right track. I built the same set up about 1month ago for my brother. Had same problem and i eneded up taking the computer apart as i did not know what was causing the beeping. Had 2x512mb of ram and put the 2 sticks in slot 1&2 the slots closer to the CPU and it would give me the beeps. What i found is all i needed to do was move the ram into slot 3&4 and it worked.

After that i installed windows had a sata drive but it detected it with out any problem just had to set it up in bios to look for a sata drive "just in case your using sata"

Let me know how you get on!

    Thanks a million :-)
I'll try it as soon as I get home, just gonna be itching here at work til I get home.
Thought it might be more serious than simply putting RAM in the wrong slot.

Then is was 6 in the morning when I was putting it together (bit of a night owl) so I was too tired to think to switch the memory into different slots.

How is the board btw, I've read good reviews and hopefully it'll be cool!

    Yeah its good.
I like to overclock my computers but so far i have only clocked his computer to 2ghz. But then again was only messing around with it for 10mins. But the CPU is not hot at 37c at full load so plenty of more clocking can be done.

Well good luck with computer, i hope you will find that it was only the ram that was preventing you from booting!

barton will overclock way more if you try, i had 1 my self up untill recently
was over clocked to 2.1 ghz no probs 1st time round, before getting my throughbred at the same speed at stock(i know less cache!)

had a similar prob with mine when i had an asus mobo,
t'was the cpu believe it or not but sounds like the ram slots are being silly as
per usual, can any 1 come up with a logicail reason as to why ram is so
    pig ignorant at times ??????????

good look with the systems building is so much fun kinda like big kids lego!!!!!!!! ;)

Have a look at my SIG :)
Can clock it to 2700mhz but its not stable.

As for ram i know what you mean. I have had sticks of ram in the past that just gave trouble. Dont know why they give trouble but they do.
