I've been out of the job getting thing in Ireland since 2000. I dealt with alot of recruiters back then and they often were time wasters.
I'm supposed to see one this week and just wondered if anyone has any experience with them. HRM in Fitzwilliam Square.
Also what should I look out for...technical competancy tests...etc etc?
    Any other info is appreciated.

    Tanks

Hmmm I'm 0 for 3 in this forum so far.... :D
Well my experience was that HRM are quite good and the recruiter actually gave me some great advice on interviews (which I'm pretty crap at the moment).
    Had some good jobs too.

ok, i think most people dont have a great experience with recruitment agencies.
personally, ihave dealt with a number of them over the years, and i cant think of any that have stood out at all for me.

most of them will take your details, chat to you, and as soon as you dont get hired in the first week, are not interested.
andy ouknow, thats alright, ebcause thats their job. sending you on numerous interviews does not get them paid most of the time. so you just have to keep doing the rounds.

i think most people here, once you understand where recruitment agencies are useful, and where they are not, would say that personal networking is the best way to get a job.
if you know people who know people, or if you have friends already in places, or jesus, if your family know of something. use them all. some people hate nepotism, personally, i think it s abloody marvelous way to do business.
use every single contact you can to get a job, to get a sale, to do business, becuase we all want money :)

let us know how you make out with other recruitment agencies, but in all fairness, if you ask people about agancies in dublin, half wiull give you a negative experience, and the other half will only give you a so-so experience.
i dont think recruitment agencies in ireland do 'good' experiences (no carlsberg connections i guess)

however, in the UK, i know a number of top notch agencies who place high level execs, and as you can imagine, if you are in that line of work, you are worth a lot of money to them, so they will pamper you.
    which is nice :)
