    Hi Folks,

Can anyone tell me if SAP (second audio program) is supported in Ireland? If not, how are alternate audio tracks handled?

    Not familiar with SAP?

SAP is “second audio program.” In consumer TV menus, there is usually a selection for sound that includes stereo, mono, and SAP. The SAP is used to carry a second audio track—usually another language track. In the US, this is largely used for Spanish audio.

SAp is not supported in Ireland it is used in the USA for Spanish option. They only thing that supports multi audio streams is satellite ie SKY where you can select your profered audio which is only supported by a few channels like Motors which broadcasts in English, French & German.

    Hope this helps

Euronews VOAworldnet (Hotbird) IIRB and possibly Eurosport use multi audio languages but its done with digital audio subchannels rather than SAP

NICAM also has facilities for additional languages but Im not sure if any broadcasters actually use it Tech stuff about NICAM
