Everyone.. post what you think is an essential Firefox extension.

For me.. it's gotta be the excellent FoxyTunes

    Brillant piece of software.

Controls practically any Media Player from a little taskbar in your browser.

Supports WinAmp, iTunes, foobar2000, Windows Media Player, Musicmatch, Quintessential, J. River, jetAudio, XMPlay, MediaMonkey, Media Player Classic, Sonique, wxMusik, Real Player, XMMS, Noatun, Juk, Amarok, Music Player Daemon, Rhythmbox and many other players.

    these are essential

adblock - gets rid of them nasty google ads
boards.ie pm monitor - does what it says on the tin (but it's not a paint)
mouse gestures - control your web browsing with mouse movements
ieview - you can right click a link and open it in IE perfect for badly coded sites that don't take into account that there's other browsers than IE
mozilla archive format - allows you to save web pages as one file

    Hmmmm...

    1. Got adblock already.
    2. Don't get many PM's so don't see much need. Had Boards as a live bookmark but it didn't really work that well.
    3. Sounds interesting.
    4. Also sounds interesting.
    5. Doubt i'll have much need for that.

    Cheers for them Cremo.

i find the archive format is dead handy for saving web pages that you might need say order confirmations etc.

it saves it as one file instead of a html file and a folder of images

i found the weather checker to be inaccurate. like for dublin, ireland it was saying sunny 15 degress celcius, while outside it was lashing.

    What's the weather thingy?

    I have Adblock and IEView.

Download Manager Tweak - shows the download manager is a new tab or as a sidebar instead of a separate window.
Tabbrowser Extension - multiple tabs - save tab settings etc - just like Opera (almost)
    Mozilla Calendar

Download statusbar is good. You can see the progress of the files you're downloading in a status bar and then you can doubleclick to open the file when it's done.

I've found it to be about 95% ( :D ) accurate. Closer to dublin you are the more accurate it is. presume it's based on Dublin Airport

I find the weather in Bray is often completely dif to that in Dublin...(I'm from Bray, and my mammy is always on the phone to me, telling me it's sunny/raining/snowing and in dublin it's the opposite :D

    Firefox Extensions here: http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showforum=2&prune_day=100&sort_by=A-Z&sort_key=title&topicfilter=all&st=0

Plain Text Links - this extension treats non live links as live
CTC - adds close tab to the context menu
    compact menu
BBCode - absolute must if you post a lot
    download sort
tabbrowser extensions - the best extension yet
    linky
    magpie
    bookmark backup
    almost full screen
    deskcut
    launchy
stop/reload - combined stop reload toolbar button
    switch proxy tool
    smiley xtra
    spoof stick
    anidisable

I know I didn't provide descriptions for all extensions but don't be lazy like me, look them up yourself

Actually if you use the wiki page [wiki]Firefox Plugins[/wiki], it contains a few more things related to boards.ie you can throw into firefox. It also has a link to the latest version of the PM plugin.

Btw, although FOAF viewer works I'm a big fan of it (yes I know I made it).

    Here is what I have.

    - Adblock. *MUST HAVE*
    - Boards.ie PMM (v1.01)
    - Disable Targets for downloads.
    - ForecastFox.
    - IEView (rarely if ever use it though)
    - User Agent Switcher. This allows you to bypass the spammers 302 exploit in google by switching to googlebot, can also let you see sites that are IE only sites.
    - ConQuery. Allows you forward highligthed text to one of your search engines.
    - BugMeNot. Alllows you read websites that require you to log in.

does disable targets for downloads actually work? I had it and removed it cause whenever i'd click on a download link it would still open up a black tab

I don't get the User Agent Switcher thing

    BugMeNot, is AWESOME,

    Thank!

TBH I am not sure :) Must get around to testing it. But it doesn't spawn a new window when I download (tabs not worried about).
I don't get the User Agent Switcher thing

When you connect to a website your browser says to the Server "Hey there! I'm a firefox browser, hows about formatting everything for me?". Problem is some servers "Fck you! I am IEs byatch, get lost". So you change the agent string to tell the server you are IE and pages magically work again (sometimes).

There is an exploit in google called "302". What it does is when googlebot reads a spammers site it is temporary redirected to a proper site (eg. bbbc.com might forward to bbc.com). Then because how google works this fake page is pushed above the real page. Then when a user clicks on the google link, because thier agent string isn't googlebots it redirects you to the spammers site. Google are in the process of fixing this though.

I was a big fan of Tabbrowser Extensions, but the developer now recommends using Tab Mix http://hemiolapei.free.fr/divers/tabmix/tabmix.html.en
Its actually very good and a lot simpler to configure

Another I couldn't do with out is 'permit cookies' http://gorgias.de/mfe/
You can disable cookies in tools|options and then use a shortcut to allow certain sites to store cookies

Yeah it works for me. You have to actually add the extensions that you want it to work on if they're not already there but it works fine.
