Tesco has something similar for the same'ish price except they throw in a computer desk as well.

This might be better in "Bargin Alerts".

Man thats not a good deal for a desktop.
A mate of mine bought a dell w/o a moniter with better specs then that for 400 quid the other day, lol

I found a few dell desktops on the outlet site last night with P4 3.0, 512-1024 RAM, 80-120G HDD and dvd burners for around the €550 mark (thay have €100 off). Adding the 19" ultrasharp tft to them still brought the price in at around €950-1000.

Oh and Celeron's suck. Especially at that price...

That deal is pretty lame, actually. The system (w/o monitor) is only worth the top end of €400.

Yeah that PC isnt much of a bargain.

Someone else suggested the Dell outlet store and I agree this is the way forward there are some lovely machine without monitor for 500.

Well, let's not exaggerate. You'll build a very nice family PC for 700 odd euro. But a whopper?

The thing i'd be concerned about buying from a supermarket would be support... who would you contact? I'd assume you'd have to bring it back to them and they'd have to send it back to manufacturer?

So for something potentially trivial issue that you may be able to resolve with a support agent over the phone you'd have to send it back as I'd imagine they'll have no such support, and no doubt in doing so receive a nasty bill.

I agree, buying a PC from a supermarket would be like buying a car from Mcdonalds. And can you imagine ringing Dunnes and telling them your puter wont start up

No, you're right it's not a bad deal. It's a bloody great fecking terrible deal. 34 Posts eh? An obvious n00b. As other users have stated. You'd easilly build a much better pc for the same price.

I bought from JES and the manufacturer here in Ireland supported it.

I'm assuming the same deal applies to the supermarket. All the manufacturer needs is the machine reference code anyway and they'll be able to deal with it from there.
