Asus A7V133 v 1.05 motherboard - Upgrading to Athlon XP 2100+

    I have an Asus A7V133 v 1.05 motherboard w/bios v.1009.

My 1GHz Athlon seems to work fine but I need help setting bios to run Athlon XP2100+.

The settings so far seem to hang.
At the time I bought it, the motherboard was found to be able to take up to Athlon 2100, I didn't realise the + made a difference and I can't get it to run.
Is there any upgrades available for this.
Any new BIOS that can handle this?.
    Thanks for the help.

Hi, from doing a bit of a Google on this it seems that the A7V133 only supports Athlon XP up to 2100 with a Palomino core (older, not as much available new after Mid 2003 due to the greater popularity of TB cpus) but does not support Thoroughbred core (newer, hit the scene early 2003, were more popular than Palomino due to running cooler temps and better overclocking) Athlon XP processors as people have tried them and say that there is major problems with voltage stability if these CPUs are used. Could be the root of your problem if you are trying to use a Thoroughbred chip. I had a Palomino 2000+ which was green in colour, one of my friends still has a Thoroughbred 2000+ which is light brown in colour. Don't know how good a rule of thumb this is for telling the chips apart as I have seen newer Barton core chips in both colours but there is some more info on chip identification here
