Problem with slow system

    Hi,
    I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 bought it last august its got 80gb and 512ram pentium 3.06 but im having some trouble with it the laptop booting slowly and programs loading pretty sluggishly and sometimes when I have the task manager open looking at the cpu usage it is going nuts up in the 90s when nothing of note is running on desktop.Theres only bout 15gb of hard drive in use and ive ran avg free and stinger to check for antivirus and found nothing any ideas what might be up?

    Worth a check for spyware... download Microsoft Antispyware, Ad-aware, Spybot, Spywareblaster

    would adware/spyware make prog run sluggish? games ect...

    Some spyware will hog resources and slow everything down.

    This prob a stupid question but is adware the same as spyware? i have lavasoft adware se do i need seperate spyware remover?where can i get?

    You should also check the hd using disk deframeter and scan disk just to be sure as well.
