You probably have checked for all this already....
Are you sure that your "onLoad" layers aren't overwriting the already loaded images or could they be "pushing" them off the page.
Could you be loading any whitespace with the layers that wouldn't appear on the screen but yet would be overwriting the standard images?
Is this happening on both IE and Netscape?

The layers aren't going near the disappearing stuff. As an experiment, I took some stuff out of the great big table the whole page is in and it didn't disappear. It could be that the layer is plonking itself ontop of the disappearing stuff, but in that case, why doesn't everything get blocked out (it's only about 5 seperate pieces that vanish).

This is all within Internet Exploder - I haven't even gone near Netscrap integration!!!

    I'm in trouble!!!

I've got a html page that's using JAVA-Script to show layers. In the body tag, I've got an onLoad to pre-load some roll-ver images and also to show the first of these layers. The problem is, when the first of the layers is being shown (via the call in the onLoad), some images and text are disappearing from the page. It's not any of the preloaded images, it's a couple of standard ones and there's nothing special about the text either.

This page is holding up the whole show - no one can figure is out, so please help!!!

    HAAHAA!!!!!!!

    Fixed the fúcker!

The JAVA-Script Layer stuff was using Div tags to do it's thang - the stuff that was disappearing was surrounded in Div tags! Answer - remove the Div tags from the disappearing stuff and Bob's yer uncle!!!

I'm now off to the pub smile.gif
