Celebrities: do you love them or loath them?

Personally, I hate celebs. When I see J-Lo on TV I want to suicide bomb her: attention seeker, completely out of touch with the real world, thinks she is intelligent, thinks she is important etc etc.

I really hate this. She is just a singer/actress. A bin man has a more important job.

And when I hear about celebs buying a watch for half a million or something...I mean for ****s sake, half a million could do so many great things in a poor country. NO ONE needs a half a million watch.

So, my question is this: do you love celebs, or like me will you be happy when the celeb assassin starts snipering them one by one...

Anyone who has ever appeared or "written" for NOW Magazine and its ilk, will be first up against the wall when the Revolution comes. I have been actively ignoring all things to do with celebrities now for a number of years. Now, when I hear a girl (always a female) remark on Cyril Geypop's nipples as revealed on Lobotomy Island or if I saw Belinda Titsum on Celebrity Caravan, I can have the satisfaction of looking at them blankly, with a faint smile of disdain.

Its good to be aloof, friends.

I don't hate celebrities - they're just being the best they can be at what they do, no more than any of the rest of us.

I hate the people who swoon over celebrities.

i think you have too much time on your hands, and should probably worry a bit more about yourself, rather than being jealous of other people.

celebrities are gobshi7es! I mean take Bono for example, he'd be my no.1 on the assassination list, but he's has been going on about "give all you can to the 3rd world" how much do you think comes out of HIS pocket? MAYBE €100 a year? I mean I give about 30€ a month, because thats what I can afford to give, but look at him, all of U2 rake in an absolute fortune from their tours, why not give a portion to their 'cause'?

Thanks for your ever so helpful comment.

It's not jealousy. I didn't say "I hate rich people". I said I hate famous people who are not living in reality.

Do you have anything constructive to add or do you just want to bitch about my post?

youre on after hours and you want constructive?

or are you just annoyed because you have blown some petty annoyance out of proportion, and some people think thats a little bit silly.

its like saying i hate soap operas, but insist on watch east enders every episode.

who are you to say what people should and should not be allowed to do? after all, you just got a little angsty at me for posting an opinion, after saying that these people wiht a lot of fame shouldnt do certain things.

little bit hypocritical wouldnt you say?

is that constructive enough, or would you like me to put some effort in?

Don't be a smartass. Your post was an attempt to bring my topic down a level to personal insults.

Why do you always have to do this? Can you not just stay on topic?

I'm trying to be more relaxed these days, diffuse the rage...

so, when you think about it, celebrities are just normal people given lots of money and followed and watched 24/7. Some are dumb, some are smart, some are loud-mouthed, some are withdrawn, some have simplistic moral agendas etc.

So they are just like all the other people you know in life (but they don'y get the same TV coverage.)

As to the people who are infatuated with the celebrity cult, it's just a bit of harmless escapism.

But hey, bring on the reveloution, i've got plenty of other people to put against that wall. Yay, pograms!

ah, the righteous indignation of the outclassed.

anyway...... i bet you will open up my posts just to read then anyway.

by the way, i dont have a problem with celebs. but then again, i dont watch a whole lot of tv, or mtv or whatever the yuff of today watch, so i dont get too much exposure.

although, i do find thr humour in black r&B singing about gouchi, and bentleys, and rolls royces, and all the good stuff that us whities have had for years. i mean seriously, who gives a monkeys what sort of sheets you have, or what car you drive. youve got crap music, and far too much cheap looking gold jewlery on to be taken seriously.

Sensible attitude. The 'celebrity' culture is just a media-drive, money making racket.

I admire anyone who has a genuine talent and uses it well, be they actors, singers, writers or sports people. The very best don't need to use the media to get attention. They get on with their careers and produce performances/art/literature that stands on its own.

But what does it matter to anyone else what goes on in their private lives? Most of the peole who are feted by the media seem to live lives that are a very poor example to the poor sods who read the likes of 'Hello' and 'Now'.

If more people got on with living their own lives as best as possible, and not trying to live vicariously through theavid following of the exploits of attention-seeking wannabes, there would be a much smaller market for 'celeb' mags and tv shows.

I simply don't care about them. I don't read gossip columns/mags as quite frankly, it's boring. Who care's what two bit soap actress or talentless pop wannabe is shagging some guy I've never heard of?

I think it's very sad that people get all worked up about seeing their idol on a red carpet at some pointless awards bash. All the screaming and shouting and so on. I mean, get a life, they're just people too. No more special than you or me.

I just don't care about them. Avoid MTV and magazines and you barely ever hear about them.
