It's blocking gmail and not hotmail? Unlikely I would have thought

I was having this problem as well after installing a new firewall, turn it off and it works fine, so gmail doesnt like one of the existing rules :(

i can't access it from home either, firefox or IE...login page loads fine , enter username and password, then a blank page....no amount of refreshing changes it, set it up through outlook express in the end....can access it fine from work through either browser..

This was reported as a temporary solution on another forum, it might work..
Right click on the Blank Page you get --> The Box that comes up has a "Refresh with Full Quality" Command...click on it and your gmail Inbox will come up.

If that doesn't work here are some solutions by GMail itself:
Why does my page get stuck on “Loading”?

There might be a number of reasons why the "Loading" screen doesn't change.
Here are some potential causes and solutions:

    INTERNET SECURITY SOFTWARE
If you are using Internet security or personal firewall software, we suggest you disable it for troubleshooting purposes.

    BROWSER PREFERENCES
If you are using Internet Explorer, please follow these steps to reset your browser's preferences:

From the Tools menu at the top of your browser, select 'Internet Options'
From the Privacy tab, select 'Low'
Select 'Edit' and type 'google.com' into the 'Address of Website' field
Select 'Accept' to override the handling of particular cookies
From the Security tab, check that the setting is at 'Medium' or lower
    Click 'OK' to accept changes
    CACHE
Clearing a browser's cache often helps resolve Gmail log in problems. To clear your browser's cache in IE, please follow these steps:
Close all open browser windows, and then open a new one
From the Tools menu at the top of your browser, select 'Internet Options'
From the General tab at the top of the dialog box, select 'Temporary Internet files' > 'Delete Files'
Check the 'Delete all offline content' box
Click 'OK' and close your browser window to complete the process
Finally, close your browser window, and open another to log in to Gmail. If you are able to log in to your Gmail account, you can try raising the Privacy setting to 'Low' or 'Medium.'

This guy reports fixing the problem by removing spyware, read his blog here.

I have experienced this problem with GMail on Firefox a few times but it has never lasted for long, usually when I come back to check it later it is working again.

    HTH
