The new Medion 8386 is out in ALDI stores next week:

    http://www.aldi.ie/

For specs from the medion website go here : Medion Site Translated from German

Those specs say 300GB Hard Drive .... From my research there is two 160GB hard drives in the ones coming to Ireland

(Click on " Bench mark and pictures Aldi PC MD 8386 XL")

Im thinking of buying one and the 17inch monitor. What do people think of the machine and monitor?

The monitor is standard D-SUB what am i missing out on without the DVI.

Any experience with Returning them to ALDI (if I dont like what I get i'm bringing it back straight away), or medion in general?

    Cheers

Apparently a comparable Lidl product (very similar specs, AMD processor) will be coming soon. Full details at: http://tinyurl.com/6x94o
    (Google translation of German page)

The Lidl product is described as having the following specs:

    AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (2.2 GHz)
Gigabyte Ga-k8nf-9 Main board (nForce 4)
    2x 512 MByte GDR RAM (400 MHz)
    Gigabyte GeForce 6645 (128 bits, 128 MByte)
TV tV-Tuner for similar and DVB t receipt
Max gate 300 GByte HDD (SATA, 7,200 RPM, 16 MT Cache)
    Toshiba multi-standard dual Layer DVD burner (16x Dvd+/ r, 5x DVD+R DL)
    WLAN 54 MBit/s (IEEE 802.11g)
    8x USB 2,0, 3x Firewire, 56K modem, 10/100/1000 MBit Ethernet
8 channel audio, 9-in-1 memory card reader and xD adapter
    Radio keyboard and mouse
Headset, Web Cam, loudspeaker, IR remote maintenance
WLAN USB stick, Bluetooth USB stick, 128 MByte USB stick
Microsoft Windows XP Home edition SP2, Works 8.0
    sumptuous software package
    3 years Grantie

Any thoughts on whether this would be a better buy? German sites describe the ALDI machine as being slower overall, but with a better graphics card:

Personally, I've always preferred AMD chips, and would be tempted to hold off for the LIDL machine.

It's only a "regional offer" though... so possibly not coming here.
