Sorry I cant give a URL to show an
example of this, - the site is in development and only running on an
    Intranet at the moment.

The story goes that Internet Explorer is
rendering the checkboxes and radio buttons on my forms perfectly,
without using a background for them, whereas Netscape is taking the
background colour of the page itself and using that as the background
of the buttons/boxes.- this is not helpful as the radio buttons and
checkboxes are in tables with white backgrounds and the page itself
has a red background, so the red background is showing up on the
checkboxes and radio buttons in NS4.72 - ugly.

Surely someone has encountered this before. Applying a CSS style to the checkboxes or radio buttons didn't seem to help.

    any ideas, anyone?

mmm, well you might not like this idea...

But why not set the background colour of the page to white (via the html tags), and use a single red pixel jpg, tiled as the pages background?

Ah well, that's all I can think of.

Yep, that's a good work around, but make sure the text is readable on both the red and the white, as that'll solve problems that may occur should the red image not load (either because of user settings, or because a network error happened when that image was being loaded).

Oh it will be readable if the red dot doesnt load- the only places that there IS text is in the tables, which have white backgrounds. The text is black.

netscapes tables thingy is fairly funked up alright. I'm have probs with making this site work ( http://2040.gibworld.com/dk ) with ns but i cant do it. Is ns6 better for tables?

ns6 renders tables the same as ns4.7 with a few extra annoying bonuses thrown in..
youll see these your self if you play around smile.gif
