stepaside 9 hole public course is a challenge not to loose less than 3 golf balls
but its worth the fee (i think its 25) but that was last year - who knows what inflation has done to that fee

Hollywood lakes in ballyboughal Dublin. A very challenging course for low handicappaers. This years location for the Pierce Purcell.

Off topic: what's the Pierce Purcell?

There is a batch of interclub competitions run every year. Most are against teams in the same province.

The main ones include the Pierce Purcell. They are grouped around handicap, from memory the Pierce Purcell is a two man team format with the combined team having a handicap of not less that 27 and no individual less than 12.

    For more info check ww.gui.ie.

For example there is the Barton Cup which is a combined of over 15 I think.

Barton would be one of the highest standard no less than 15 but any handicap combination can play.

a bit further away but try Seapoint Golf Club Termonfeican Co Louth
you will struggle to find a better challenge

The Monty course in Carton. You'll see plenty of it on tv this week ;)

I've actually played it - it's a monster of a course but expensive (€90 iirc). The O'Meara course is nice but too open atm.

Lucan is a good course with excellent greens - about 50 at the weekends.

I've played it a few times.

Its hard. Course record 4under par.

Clarkes score was done off some forward tees also.
