I have approx 1hr 40 of video in divx and want to burn it to a dvd, but Sonic MyDvd says it wont fit.

    Any tips?

eg would it be possible to lower the audio bitrate?

    See pics

i have a sneaky feeling the audio is vbr bitrate.
try using virtualdub www.virtualdub.org to export the audio to a wav

    open file in vdub
    go to audio menu
    selct full processing mode
go to file > save wav

it will take about 5 mins on newish pc
then use the wav as the audio for you dvd

also look in the options to see what bitrate the video is set at
in the file properties there its at 199kbps
a dvd mpeg at 2000kbps should be more that enough to capture that without quality loss

your dvd program might be set to 6000kbps [dvd standard]

I think your ok on the audio side of things. More then likely the bitrate for the video is set to CBR (constent bit rate) in Sonic.
Say, for example, the bitrate is set to 6000kbits/s, that is fixed throughout the movie and does not budge. You would maybe get under an hour at this bitrate on a single sided dvdr.
On the otherhand if it's set to VBR (Varible Bit Rate) Sonic should be able to increase/decrease the bitrate as it encodes and not be constrained to a fixed bit rate AND therefore be able to hit a target filesize. Look for the video encoding options there in Sonic.
Go fo 192Kbps for the audio too to try and remain as DVD spec as possible.
Also, 352x288 is ok for PAL DVD resolution too...known as D1 and is within the DVD stanards so it will play on any dvd player.
No point upsizing to regular 720x576 as the source quality is bound to be ****.
Jayus, just buy the dvd. :)

    Good luck.

Use TMPGEnc to convert from avi to MPG and then TMPGEnc DVD Author to convert from MPG to DVD and burn

Thats a converter and not a burner.

DVDShrink will "shrink" the movie to fit the size of the disk.
