    Hi,

    My friends sister is think of becoming a hairdresser, any body know what the wages are like before and after they qualify?

    They will start off at the basic wage for the first year or two. She will get her training while she works and it will take at least 4 years to qualify. However, there are no professional qualifications as such in Ireland for hairdressing.

    My friend, 10 years experience, though qualified in UK, earns 550 euro a week after tax. Tips on top depending on how good you are.

    Tradition has been that apprentices have to pay salons for work.

    There is a registered agreement for hairdressing which sets out the basics.
