HTPC / Media PC

I am building a HT / Media PC which I will be running my Chorus analogue cable through, and then onto my TV.

so it will be cable > decoder > PVR in PC pci slot > PC Graphics Card out to TV

I was wondering if my PC could decode the scrambled channels for output to my TV. Now I am not intending to do anything illegal, and already pay for all the channels I wish to watch, I was just wondering if this is possible. Surely a PC must be able to defeat any safeguards Chorus or NTL are capable of using, much as it can defeat all CD / Gaming safeguards.

    Inqui (puzzled)

Interesting proposition, AFAIK it's only hardware that can do the descrambling. If you wer e to use it it would be

cable > decoder > descrambler > PVR in PC pci slot > PC Graphics Card out to TV

It's possible allright, though I'm not sure of the legality there. You don't already have a set top box right? It's just bog standard cable.
