    Hi there,

Has anyone had problems with the pre-amp on the Takamine G Series (the one with the built in tuner)?

Mine seems not to want to work with all PAs, or at least it appears that way, is there some combination of all the buttons on the pre-amp that cuts the sound?

I thought it might be the EQ by-pass, but i was playing a gig the other night and tried turning this on and off, but no joy.
Far as I know the battery is ok too.....

    cheers
    D

What have you plugged it into that it's worked in?

yeah tried different leads, it seems to work ok in a normal guitar AMP, and then it works fine in most PA systems, but once of twice I've been at a gig and have had to either swap guitars or press buttons blindly until I get sound, thats what leads me to believe that there is some combination of setttings that blocks the sound to the PA system.

Straight to PA or via a DI box?

Have you looked inside the preamp for loose wiring?

sorry i don't know what a DI box is (which might go some of the way towards explaining why I can't get my preAmp to work properly :D )

Well I took out the Pre-Amp, its a removable unit, there doesn't seem to be any clean way into the PreAmp itself....

    cheers

Sounds like loose wiring and you jabbing at the buttons is just accidently putting things right. If you cant get in at the preamp yourself then bring it to Soundgear in portabello and they'll sort you out. As far as I know, they're the Irish takamine distributors.
