I raised £3,000 back in 2000 for charity - New York Marathon - shafted a few companies for some cash, got cash off mates and had a table quiz which raised £1,500 alone.

The Russel Court hotel give you their room free which will get you 30 tables at €40 per table - had a raffle on the night - sold tickets for the raffle when everyone had a few beers in and had good prizes - the money comes in quite quickly if you organise two or three events - like a night at the dogs / race night / auction etc.

What is it you are planning to do?

A good friend of mine spent a couple of months somewhere in Africa (narrows it down I know) doing charity work. She had to raise a fair bit of money before hand which she did by organising a few music gigs and generally pestering friends, family and people in the pub for cash.

'For charity' is always a good incentive for people to hand over money. Especially when drunk.

Hmm, best to start on the north end and walk south. Otherwise its uphill all they way :-)

Table quiz / rock night / tap work for sponsorship etc etc.
