I have just started using bit torrents as i have recently got broadband installed and i am having some problems.

Firstly the mp3s i download wont play on window media player. I have updated my player to the most recent version and they still wont play? anyone any ideas why? It has the .mp3 extension after them so i dont understand why? I download mp3s from ftp sites and these play fine.

Then when i go to convert the mp3s i download with bit torrents to .wavs, i get input stream error, it wont convert them to wavs. The program i am using is mp32wav, again, this program works fine with mp3s i download from ftp sites?

Anyone any ideas, any help would be appreciated.

    thanks

My guess is their not mp3 files, they just have the .mp3 extension. Try playing them in a music play that supports more than WMP. e.g. www.winamp.com

I downloaded winamp and tried that but they didn't play very well, songs seemed to skip about, like on a scratched cd.

Is it basically a bit hit and miss with these torrents. I have never used them and dont know alot about them.

Yep there is no way of telling the quality of the files unless you get them from a trusted source (don't ask).

I download a lot from bittorrent and rarely get dud files. Have never gotten any dud music files, download VLC media player and try playing them with that.

any ideas on the mp3 to wav conversion?

I've downloaded 40GB through BitTorrent and I've never gotten a dodgy file.

I'm getting the impression readign this that Bulmers didn't allow the files to fully download - perhaps they just finished "allocating". I've never had this kind of problem from bittorrent.

Yeah, thats what it sounds like. I too have never got a bad download. However if the download is incomplete they dont play right and/or skip etc.

i am going to try it again but i downloaded 3 albums and the same thing happened. I thought maybe with the first one, i made a mistake so i tried a few others and seen the same problem.

Will try again, thanks for the replies

I don't think the mods will like this thread. I got shot down for mentioning bittorrents files in another thread. Sry... only downloaded 1 album and it worked fine. Sry can't help! :) Best o luck!

You're right. I'm on the verge of closing this one. In fact, I am closing it. While there isn't any express declaration of illegal activity, I think it's fair to infer it.

    It's mah job. :)
