Is it possible to record programmes onto a Sky+ box, remove the hard drive, install the hard drive into a PC and then rip the recorded programs?

    Just curious...

I wouldn't think so, as the programmes are recorded in their encrypted format and are only unencrypted during playback, so you'd need a Sky compliant decoder in your PC. I'm petty sure that such a thing doesn't exist at the moment.

I wonder what sort of encryption is used? If it's a weak algorithm a modern PC could use a brute-force attack to crack it I'd imagine.

dont even think the hard core crackers can crack sky digitals encryption. and we prolly shouldnt be even discussing it :)

Advice: purchase a DVD recorder and a scart lead
We cant discuss hacking sky here-it's not allowed
