In the time it took you to post this thread you could have rang/mailed AIB and asked them to check it out..or did that not occur?

May be you were using one of those modded ATM's with the fraudulent card scanners on it?????

[edit] Have you been eating a lot lately? Maybe your fingers are too fat? Next time mash the keypad and see if you can order a special dialing wand.

Actually, the same thing happened to my EBS card (AIB operate EBS ATM cards on their behalf) on Friday in the Jervis centre. Rejected my PIN twice, definately the correct pin.

This raises another, more interesting, subject
What is AIB went belly up, sure they have declared impressive profits, and govt are supposed to back them up, but what if?

Do people keep cash themeselves at home, like 1000 EUR under the matress just in case?

I hate AIB. They charged me €7 because I lodged a cheque that was drawn on an account that closed between the time the cheque was written and I lodged it. ****ers! Not my fault the drawee was a retard!

It let you type a wrong pin 4 times. I thought on the 3rd time it ate your card. Happened to me before! That's why I stopped after 2!

The bank has real assets in the form of property etc. So, AIB might owe you €10,000, but they own your house!

The figure of 1000 as used in the original post an example not an exemplar.

i tried 4 different machines, one in the bank(lost count), one outside tesco(three times), one outside londis(twice) and one outside credit union(twice)

You may have just given your pin number to a fake machine. I would suggest that you check the machine hasn't got a false front.

Check your card in another machine.

Geez, before I tried twice on one machine (permanent tsb card - I know, i'm a bank whore with commitment issues) then once more on a different machine, and it ate my card. Sounds like something is actually WRONG with your account/card

I'm fairly sure AIB have a 24 hour support line surely there's someone who you can get a lend off their phone to ring them and ask about it or failing that walk down to a phone booth and ring them from there.

I'd say you've tried it yourself the odd time at least. If not maybe you should. It'd work off the excess from your possibly fat fingers and make those buttons easier to press. Calling someone a wanker isn't really all that much more insulting than calling them a "human" or a "man" now is it?

Lines of coke. Though using a citibank platinum card is probably classier. I wouldn't know. Don't have an account with citibank either come to think of it so I guess I wouldn't know twice.

ha! yeah the allied is in it cause there the result of Leinsteir, Munster and Connaught bank's joining back in the day, needless to say ulster bank was the protestant one!

I think BOI are **** too, changing there 365 service to be a lo-call service instead of the freephone.

Totally true. They send you a completely random number on it as well. It'll be in the same envelope as the card. Hope ye haven't thrown it away, now :D

Where Are They Sending The Letter Mohanned?& How Do They EXpect To Find You If They Dont Trust Your Address??!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,082 ✭✭✭Tobias Greeshman

Are you sure its not your card, Ive had to replace my card twice in the last 2 years. If part of the magnetic strip was damaged it might not be able to read the pin code of the card, a bit unlikely but possible at the same time.

I give it 2 days before the same problem happens again.

I don't get this. Instead of contacting AIB and getting the problem sorted, you run off to another bank. You'll never get anywhere if you don't at least try and sort problems out.

Why Should I In All Fairness I Have An Account In Bank Of Ireland Ages Before I Had One In Aib..and They Are Wank3rs Anyway. With A Toaster You Could Turn Down The Knobby Thing???

Because you'll have minor irritations with all banks and you'll eventually run out of options if you snub them all for every little detail.

Exactly. It could be something minor, it could be something you did, it could be a million things. You'll never know.
