i want one of these fish, but ive heard theyre hard to feed anything other than live food. I dont like the idea of feeding goldfish and such because of the diseases and parasites you can introduce into your tank. also, i know in the wild they jump out of the water to catch prey, but will they still do that if theyre fed? wouldnt want to come home and find him on the rug :o

They grow very large. Minimum tank size for one would be 48". Any less and its not fair on the fish. Due solely to their size they are not recommended for average aquarist.

I'm still considering one. the aquaruim i have is 72" . Theres only a few other Amazonian fish in it. 2 oscars, and a shovelhead catfish. im more concerned about how they feed incaptivity. I've seen pre packaged food for them, but was just wondering if anyone had first hand experience with them.

Oooooh, that be a nice tank so. Havent kept them myself, a friend did years ago, they jump, alot, so keep a tight lid on it. If you get any let us know how you get on with them...
