I bet that got your attentions!

So how successful do you think we'd be if we lobbied to allow classics to use the bus lanes? ;)

Or do you think we get enough benefits and that we should keep quiet and not upset the apple cart?

    :D

    eh why???

why would you risk your precious classic in rush hour traffic... other than that why else wouldyou want to drive in a bus lane

    Ehh I wasn't really serious GB. ;)

Besides - the bus lanes always give a nice run, and heavy traffic unfortunately isn't restricted to "rush hours".

i think 'raris and lambos should be allowed use bus lanes.

Why is driving in traffic "risking" your classic? I drive mine everywhere and it is a better car for being driven rather than left sitting up with an occasional 1 hour spin. I must admit it is not at its best in heavy traffic and prefers the open road - so the bus-lane idea gets my vote!

But then the bus lanes would cease to work as they get clogged up with a most stylish traffic jam.

    Oh the quandry....

    uh huh, right so

but outside of rush hours arent most bus lanes 7-19 !!! the quays is hte best at 19:01 of an evening!!! and you should really be working hard during the day to buy that 250GTO !!

speaking of which nice 355spider and lambo countach in lawfords on harolds cross bridge-tasty

Lobbying the powers that be won't work - the motorcycle lobby has been doing this for a while (on safety grounds amongst others) and got nowhere!

Ehhhh... no. You have a car? Drive it in the normal section of the road. Its called a bus lane for a reason, you know... :p

yes you are right! Actually, by that logic I think we should also stop taxis, ambulances, bicycles, etc. from using them!

Everyone that forks out €1343 on road tax (like I did last night) should be allowed use bus lane. In fact a dedicated overtaking lane on motorways without a speed limit would be fairly good value for money too :D

If you pay more than a grand in car tax you should be allowed park on pavements and on pedestrianised streets.

We have 50 yards of bus lane in Galway so I have no opinion on this subject except to point out that classic car enthusiasts in Britain are worried that new legislation may prevent them driving in city centres as their cars aren't environment or pedestrian friendly enough. Watch this space...

    I've read about that too.
A lot of it was dismissed as scaremongering though.

Still, keep your placards at the ready just in case...

Oh don't get him started :D - there is a thread somewhere with pics of it and it is bigger than my sitting room with an engine that would pull the Titanic up out of its resting place, but he won't let anyone have a go of it....

Ok a few pictures of my "milkfloat" (copyright Interceptor)

Late '96 735iA V8 Executive (that means leather, puter, leccies and telly). Bought February 2004 with full BMW service history. Imported by previous owner from the UK where it had had a further two owners

Car was taken to an aftermarket specialist when new by first owner for lowering, stiffening suspension, uprated brakes (you get an idea about the size from some of the pics) and uprated 18" 245/45 BMW alloys. Brakes are something else, although I gave up hope of ever having the wheels shiny again after a few weeks

Performance is sound, but the handling still doesn't cease to amaze me. For a milkfloat size 2 ton saloon it is astonishing. You would think it is at least a full class size smaller

I've never driven a standard E38, so I haven't a clue how much the suspension job altered the driving experience

    looks great.
WRT to the alloys & brake dust - try waxing them - makes it much easier to clean.

€1343 is a lot of road tax to pay, considering as your car is only worth €8500.

It is - I have to keep it @ exactly 100mph at all times otherwise the bomb - placed by the angry fired milkman that fathered all them hairy babies - will be triggered :D

Whilst 100mph mightn't be good for your licence it should be no bother at all to that tank!
Bring it down to Mondello in a few weeks and I'll get a gander at it!
